Catching up on Clipping

July and so far August have been nice months. We have received enough rain to keep the pasture lush. We hope this continues into September.

July and August feel like months to catch up on all the things that were put to the side as we try to get through the spring and early summer. A big job right now is mowing the pastures as the animals get done grazing them. This helps keep weeds under control and cuts any uneaten grass so that it grows back nice and lush for the next grazing. The pastures also look better after the weeds have been clipped, so fields you can see from the road tend to get prioritized. We rent most of our grazing land, and keeping it looking nice for the land owners is a important part of the deal. Here you can see our tractor and mower getting fueled.

Our cows are lucky to have shade in almost all the pastures. When it is going to be hot we make sure they have a shady spot where they can rest.
