The last month has been great for the sheep flock. With little snow, they are still out grazing our stockpiled pastures. One group spent the last 60 days grazing our 20-acre hay field, while the rest of the flock has been grazing at our main sheep farm. On Friday I mixed the two groups of ewes together for the winter to make the feeding chores easier. We hope to continue grazing them into January, weather permitting.

Grazing season is over on the cow farm, where the cows are getting fed baleage and dry hay. Every bale is fed in a new spot to cut down on the mud around feeders and to spread the manure around the fields. I will wean the calves by the end of the month so we can give the moms a break and start feeding the calves some of our best feed.
